About Sutecchi
Sutecchi means “stitch” in Japanese. Although not all our designs are Asian in style, you can see our love for Eastern culture in our focus on natural elements, simple lines and quirky graphics.
Sutecchi was founded rather accidentally by Suzanne and Elizabeth, two graphic designers who had been coworkers (and cohorts) at a Dallas advertising agency. While wandering through a bazaar in 2007, we started talking about design ideas for graphics on children's clothing. We quickly realized that we were both looking for a creative outlet that was more hands-on and environmentally-minded than our day jobs. We had each considered creating Asian-inspired baby onesies using silk screening, fabric and embroidery. Of course, the fact that neither one of us had ever done any of those things didn't seem to matter!
Our efforts to be green go beyond just buying organic apparel, using nontoxic inks and doing what we can to reduce waste. We "recycle" fabrics such as old scarves and ties for our designs, use old picture frames to create screens and even print some of our designs on secondhand clothing for sale at bazaars. With Sutecchi, everything old is new again!
