SARAH & KYLE ARE GETTING MARRIED
June 16, 2007 | Los Angeles, California
The ceremony will begin at 4:30 pm on Sycamore Terrace within
Temescal Canyon Gateway Park
The reception follows at nearby Stewart Hall at 5:00
Temescal Canyon Gateway Park is located at 15601 Sunset Boulevard, Pacific Palisades, CA 90272 (view map). It is a short drive up the Pacific Coast Highway from Santa Monica. Turn right at Temescal Canyon Road and continue for a mile. Enter the park immediately after crossing Sunset Boulevard. There will be a parking attendant on hand with instructions and assistance (for revelers we recommend taking a taxi).
From the parking lot it’s a short walk on a paved road to Stewart Hall. After you pass the hall, it’s just a few steps on an unpaved path to Sycamore Terrace. Though this journey is relatively easy (no hiking required!), a shuttle will be provided for those who need assistance. ................................................................................................
ABOUT THE PARK
(adapted From the Temescal Canyon Gateway Park website)
Temescal Canyon Gateway Park is nestled in a quiet canyon just east of the Pacific Palisades coastline and is bordered by the Santa Monica Mountains. Although the park is conveniently close to the city, its unparalleled natural beauty will make you feel as though you've entered another world.
Historic Stewart Hall, located deep in the canyon, was built as a chapel in the early 1900’s. It is an exquisite space with a 30-foot high pitched wood ceiling. The two main walls of glass windows open out onto a garden of sycamore trees and flowers, bringing nature into the room.
Follow the path up the canyon to encounter another beautiful spot, a vast, grassy meadow shaded by native sycamores. In the early 1900’s, this area served as an outdoor auditorium for the Chautauqua Movement.
